Ever wonder why we loved the movie “9 to 5” so much back in the ‘80s? Apart from the brilliant combination of Jane Fonda, Lilly Tomlin and the everlasting Dolly Parton- we saw the opportunity to break those office stereotypes wide open. Women’s Lib was the call back in the 70s, but apart from the availability of the contraceptive pill, nothing much changed.
Forward to the 2020s – we are finally starting to see some equalising of the career opportunities for equally qualified men and women. Women are consistently reaching higher level management, with a good representation at Executive Board Level. Women can smash through that glass ceiling, not just clean it as their older sisters and mothers before them were limited to.
In celebrating International Women’s Day today, we not only remember the path many have taken before us, we look eagerly at the opportunities ahead.
