You know that feeling when you can see the opportunity and you’re ready to get out there and do something with it? That’s what this role offers.

Our client manufactures premium panels and engineered wood products. With an established foundation across Australia and New Zealand, they’re looking for a Business Development Manager who can see where the business could go and build the relationships to take it there.

You’ll have an international team behind you, quality products to represent and room to make an impact. Success will come from understanding your market, earning trust and turning promising conversations into lasting business.

A market to build. Relationships to grow.

You’ll combine new business development with account management, helping existing distributors grow while opening doors in regions with untapped potential.

Some days, you’ll be introducing the range to a prospective partner. Others, you’ll be training a distributor’s sales team, meeting an OEM customer or working with international colleagues on what the local market needs next.

You’ll:

  • Identify and appoint distributors in regions where there’s room to grow.
  • Strengthen existing partnerships through regular visits, product training and practical sales support.
  • Generate demand with OEMs and customers who buy through the distribution network.
  • Keep close to market trends and competitor activity, using those insights to shape your approach.
  • Work with the global marketing team on local content, trade shows and partner activity.
  • Connect with established sister businesses to explore shared opportunities and specification pathways.
  • Develop your knowledge of local fire and National Construction Code requirements, communicating market needs to the international team.
  • Work closely with internal sales, planning and technical colleagues to deliver for customers.

You enjoy the conversation and you follow through.

You bring at least 5 years of B2B sales experience, ideally in building materials or a related product sector. Experience with timber panels, veneers or mezzanine flooring would be particularly valuable.

You know how to ask good questions, spot an opportunity and negotiate with confidence. You’re equally comfortable winning a new account and putting in the time to help an existing partner succeed.

Working independently suits you. You can plan your territory, keep opportunities moving and make sound decisions about where to spend your time. You also know when to draw on the people and expertise around you.

Above all, you’re interested in building something that lasts: customer relationships, a strong distribution network and a premium brand with a growing presence.

You’ll need to enjoy being out in the market.

This role involves extensive travel across Australia and New Zealand. Expect to be travelling around 70% of the time, potentially more, along with attending an annual international sales meeting.

If meeting customers, visiting partners and seeing opportunities firsthand is where you do your best work, there’s plenty here to keep you engaged.
